MARDI GRAS BRIGHTENS UP DOWNDERRY

The children of St Nicolas celebrated Mardi Gras in style on 8th March, processing through the village and entertaining everyone with their carnival dance. Well done all those parents who joined in. A big thanks also goes to our PTA for the tea and pancakes back at school.

CHILDREN SHARE HOME LEARNING WITH PARENTS

The home learning projects created by the children from Godrevy and Pendeen were shared with parents on 26/2/14. Posters, books and leaflets were displayed, sharing what the children had learned about famous inventors or heroes, along with children presenting their Powerpoints or presentations to an audience. The children worked so hard on their projects and I was amazed at the quality of the home learning projects. A big thanks to the children (and parents). Also a huge thank you to the parents who spent time talking to all the children about their learning - the children really enjoyed it!

img Remember our whole school theme for the next 6 weeks is 'Superheroes'. If you know someone who is a 'Local Hero' then please let us know, as we will be investigating 'real life heroes' in depth in a few weeks time. img

Cornish Mazed Project

We are lucky to have been asked to contribute to this exciting project, working alongside professional storytellers and animators. Years 4, 5 and 6 will be hearing, learning and sharing local stories. They will be hosting a 'Tea by the Fireside', where we hope local members of the community will listen to the children's stories, as well as sharing any others they have. The best story will be animated by the children and then it will be published as part of a Cornish story archive.

Apple and Grounds Day

Thanks to all the children and parents for all their efforts helping us improve the school grounds.

P.E. Funding helps classes with gymnastics at Zero Gravity.

Over the Autumn and Spring terms, all classes will be visiting Zero Gravity for a series of afternoons focusing on gymnastics and agility. The children from Godrevy and Trevose have had a fantastic time so far and are already looking forward to their return visits. PE funding will also be providing street dance sessions for Pendeen Class.
